The General Manager of the Western Central Railway, Shobhana Bandopadhyay, has indicated this plan, emphasizing the focus on developing railway infrastructure, including track expansion, doubling, and tripling projects, along with other passenger amenities. The project also includes a grade separator above Katni station, the first of its kind in India, aimed at reducing travel time for freight and enabling uninterrupted travel for 16 km. This project covers a total distance of 520 km between Itarsi and Manikpur, with track doubling being prioritized near Ghat Pinderai in Narsinghpur and near the Tawa River. The entire track will be fenced on both sides to prevent animal intrusion and ensure smooth train movement. The Kota division has already implemented similar fencing measures along a 585 km stretch, covering 1170 km in total. This involved three types of fencing: concrete walls for 100 km, wire fencing with CC pillars for 300 km, and cement sheet fencing with CC pillars for the remaining portion. The project cost is estimated at INR 1 billion. Shobhana Bandopadhyay highlighted the importance of making the Itarsi-Manikpur track a high-speed track for trains to operate at 160 km per hour, and this will involve covering both sides of the track, similar to the Kota division.

The agency responsible for the work has already completed the track doubling work on the Varanasi-Jhusi section. An official from the agency constructing the track and bridge stated that the work pace has been increased on the Prayagraj Junction-Prayagraj Rambag section to meet the June deadline. As per instructions from the North Eastern Railway management, a bridge for the new track is being constructed at Parade after the bridge near Sangam was completed. Once this is finished by June, the track will be laid on the Jhusi and Prayagraj Rambag section. After the new track becomes operational, the Daraganj station will be closed.

Agency ke ek officer ne bataya ki June tak Prayagraj Junction aur Prayagraj Rambag ke beech ke kaam ki speed badha di gayi hai. North Eastern Railway management ke order ke mutabik, Sangam ke paas bridge banne ke baad, ab Parade mein new track ke liye bridge banaaya ja raha hai. June tak yeh kaam poora hone ke baad, Jhusi aur Prayagraj Rambag section pe track lagaya jaayega. New track chalne ke baad, Daraganj station band ho jaayega.
